Elaine Moreira is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar and she has been a member of the laboratory since February 2026.

Elaine earned her medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) in Argentina in 2025. Her path to medicine began with a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from the State University of Northern Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro (UENF) in Brazil, where she also spent part of her undergraduate years as an exchange student at Penn State University.

Elaine's interest in vision science really took off during her clinical rotations. She completed an observership at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami and participated in a research program at the Low Vision Research and Rehabilitation Center at Johns Hopkins University. These experiences sparked her fascination with how technology, research, and patient care intersect in meaningful ways.
